Hola and howdy. What changes over 28 years of our flying at El Peñon!!! Twenty eight consecutive New Years passed in Valle de Bravo. Improvements seen to launch going from width of a hang glider widening to a five lane flyway, roads that were dirt for miles now paved and concreted, and the closest landing area (The Piano) becoming an all approach direction, vehicle accessible, fun zone. FlyMexico with Alex Olazabal initiated the safer piano lz which now sees landing down in front of launch the destination instead of the plan of last resort. FlyMexico has lifted up considerable numbers of pilots, instructors, and guides. We have maintained local relations to keep our operations running smoothly through various chapters of site management and difficulties. The local connections and immersion in the culture with a Mexican wife Norma and TexMex little girl Elizabeth see Jeff and FlyMexico anchored. We keep facilities, vehicles, and a support team going for flying and fun in the Valle de Bravo area. The years look to continue adding up doing just that.
I have been flying paragliders in Valle de Bravo since 1999. I am an advanced instructor, tandem and competition pilot. My specialty is helping P2 pilots get their first taste of thermal and XC flying. I run week-long tours starting on Sundays and ending on Saturdays during the months of December and January. If you can get yourself to the Mexico City airport on Sunday afternoon, I can meet you there and travel to Valle with you to show you how to fly the site safely. We generally stay at the same posada and ride in the same vehicle to launch every day. My maximum group size is 5 pilots per week and my tours are generally the least expensive offered in Valle. We fly twice per day from the El Peńon site, making for long days full of flying, conversation and fabulous food. If you join our group, expect to get between 12 and 24 hours of thermal flying experience for every week that you are with us. Stay for multiple weeks if there is room. For more information including cost of tours and daily living expenses, visit my website.
